Realistically what is your goal for the year.

Alright I would love to shoot a 14 point double drop tine but I know that is not going to happen. My hope is that I finally get an 8 point. I have been hunting for almost 20 years and have killed many deer but a 7 point is the most points I have ever taken and a 6 point with a 15 inch spread is the biggest overall I have ever killed. Three years ago I was hunting a lease with very strict rules and passed on a 120 to 130 class 8 point :bang: . It was not old enough. Two years ago I passed on many 110 to 120 class 8 points (again not old enough). Last year I passed on a wide but short 8 point and then shot at a large 8 or 10 point that same evening and did not recover the animal.  . I am no longer on that lease and the goal for this year is to take a legal 8 point - thats it! I think it is about time I let my standards drop a little - you gotta start somewhere right?

My goal for our Rusk county lease is realistically a 3.5 to 4.5 year old 8 pt.... the last week of the season 3 young 8 pts were on camera in the SAME PICTURE , so REALISTICALLY I think there is a chance for at most a 110 class 8 pt...

On my in-laws place in Jefferson however, now thats a different story; have seen some monsters up that way, but I only hunt there on the holidays...so not very realistic...

and the last goal is to throw lead at any pig, hog, boar, or sow that even sniffs my deer corn!!!!!

Shoot does and shoot at least a 15" wide old buck that is on his downhill side. It will have to be with a bow. It takes a whole lot of a buck to get me going anymore. I focus mainly on getting my Dad a buck each season once general season starts but do occasionally slip off and do a little serious bowhunting.

Randy. I hunted 12 years before I got my first 8 point. Then I waited another 5 years to get the next biggest which was an 11 point. Then 6 years later I got my best - an 11 point with a bow. The wait was worth it

There should be some good bucks on your place near Diana  We have a small parcel about 10 miles to the east of you and it has yielded some 18" wide 8 points over the years

not showing you any pics from red hill until season strarts then ;)

with your trip to the pan handle i think you will get a 140'' or better

then with Diana you already know :!!!: :!!!:

my goal is a bobcat,10 hogs, and one wood duck.

I don't care about shooting any deer, i would rather put somebody else on them.

can't believe i just wrote that

Goal:

I want my son to get another deer and I'd like to ge tmy first ever trophy. I got my first deer when I was 11 and have been hunting steady ever since, with no trophies. That's 23 years. I've never even seen a trophy excpet on TV. Fortunately, I'm finally on a lease that has some bigguns. Hopefully this wil be the year....(God, how many times have I said that? )

Thats a hard one, of course I would like to shoot a big old drop tine buck ( who wouldn't) My biggest is a 9 point with 20" spread and like Randy, many small bucks before the antler restrictions started. But I have to admit I was pretty excited last year when I got my first doe with a bow. Many years of getting nothing makes me want to favor being able to get a good mature legal buck but I guess what I would like to get would be some type of non typical , something with a lot of big palmation type antlers. But is I see a spike this season I will gladly fling a arrow or a bullet at it.

Better yet we all would agree. This coming Youth Hunt, our young hunters get a good legal buck. Priceless
