Micaela's buck

Postby Guess on Sun Jan 17, 2010 1:10 pm

Micaela my 12 year old shot her first buck when she was 6 years old. He was a nice 120 class buck. She has passed on some nice bucks over the years since waiting on one that she liked. She even passed on a really nice 3 year old 9 point this year.
We have a late season youth hunt for whitetails which ends the 17th of Jan. Micaela and Michelle got in some hunting friday evening, they watched a field that is fulll of winter forbes. Just before dark bachelor bucks started filtering into the field. Micaela watched 9 bucks and saw two other deer in the distance that she couldn't identify. When this buck entered the field she told her mom it had been a long time since she had killed a buck and that she really liked this one. An 80 yard shot with the .243 Icon put this buck down right there. They made me come take pictures and load him in the truck!

we never weigh deer. he was large framed, but had lost considerable amount of weight from the rut and fighting.
